By our very name you know that we are not cool, but warm! Every Monday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., armed with our brown bag lunches, we gather together in fellowship and fun to cut eleven inch squares of fabric, arrange those squares in wonderful patterns and sew them together (with machines!). We press all the seams open, layer with batting and backs, and, then, tie with square knots and wrap the backs. With everything pinned in place, the quilts make one more trip to the sewing machines for a final stitch around the border. Twice a year the quilts are displayed in our sanctuary and blessed during a worship service. Once blessed, these built-with-love quilts are trucked to Baltimore and shipped with other Lutheran World Relief quilts around the world to shelters, disaster areas, schools and hospitals. The last shipment from Grace Lutheran went to Tanzania.
